Learning and Development Specialist


Job purpose

The Learning & Development Specialist will be responsible for creating training content for IT programs and company initiatives utilized throughout Beacon.  Responsibilities of team members include developing, designing, writing, & delivering training programs that include video, documentation, virtual live sessions, and in-person training for IT programs and company initiatives. This role will also participate in on-site ERP training and implementation as needed. 


Duties and responsibilities


  • Design and deliver training curriculum for specific IT programs and company initiatives
  • Script and record training content for IT programs and company initiatives for end users
  • Write and publish end user documentation including manuals & learning manuals for intranet and knowledge base
  • Seek out innovative and creative strategies for creation and delivery of IT training and company initiatives
  • Design promotional materials for IT programs and company initiatives
  • Learn new IT programs, company processes, and training technology tools
  • Train users on ERP functions and 3rd party applications (as needed)
  • Provide IT training and support effort of acquired companies
  • Review help tickets related to IT programs providing instructions and problem-solving solutions
  • Develop solid relationships with management, functional departments, and the field to leverage IT support resources
  • Maintain an exceptional level of knowledge and thorough understanding of the company’s systems and processes
  • Other duties and special assignments as required




  • Excellent communication, relationship building, and problem-solving skills – both written and verbal
  • Experience with delivering training and support desk duties or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of and experience with enterprise technologies
  • Demonstrate strong writing and editing skills
  • Demonstrable analytical, interpersonal and communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong understanding of e-learning design, training programs and video creation
  • Experience with TechSmith Camtasia, Adobe Connect, Microsoft SharePoint & Articulate Storyline strongly preferred
  • Experience with large-scale technology implementations preferred
  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience
  • Willingness to travel
