What You Will Be Working On:

  • Leading and driving Divisional Lean transformation and change initiatives.
  • Facilitating and/or conducting Lean training programs, Value Stream Mapping (VSMs), Kaizen events, and other Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Assessing, coaching, and providing constructive feedback to teams to strengthen Lean competencies and organizational development.
  • Serving as a change facilitator, developing and collaborating with Lean leaders in regions and branches, and influencing organizational leadership in the transformation to and/or in support of a Continuous Improvement culture.
  • Facilitating the Division’s strategy deployment process by managing the Division’s targets to improve, bowler charts, and the counter measure process.  Ensures regional and departmental strategies are aligned to the Division’s overall strategies.
  • Monitoring existing and new business processes for improvement opportunities in Safety, Distribution Process Capacity/Lead Time, Inventory, and Cost through Lean problem solving methodology.
  • Preparing budgets, schedules, and other financial reports particularly regarding the impact of Lean improvements, waste reduction, ROI, and as indicated by Lean accounting principles.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge through world class operations benchmarking.
  • Collaborating with all department heads including IT, Credit, Finance, Safety, Internal Audit, HR and Supply Chain to ensure the Continuous Improvement of, and adherence to Beacon’s Distribution System and Beacon Branch Fundamentals.
  • Supporting all tasks related to an acquisition’s conversion process, pre-conversion inventories, and post conversion follow-up training.
  • Assisting Divisional leaders in identifying, screening, interviewing and hiring key Divisional resources.
  • Assisting in developing additional training platforms for various job descriptions as they pertain to branch operations.
  • Communicating Continuous Improvement / Lean distribution information and news to field personnel.
  • Participating with corporate Director, Continuous Improvement and other Divisional leads in establishing and effectively implementing Beacon’s Lean transformation.

What You Will Need to Be Successful in This Role:  

  • Bachelor of Science in related business discipline.
  • Lean practitioner with experience with Toyota Motor Manufacturing or similar Industry recognized Lean/Six Sigma training and/or experience desirable.
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated qualified Lean operational experience in a leadership role required.
  • Solid knowledge and demonstrated understanding of TPS and methodologies such as: Strategy Deployment, Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5s/Visual Management, Standard Work, Process Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis, Quality at the source, Just in Time, Kaizen/Continuous Improvement, Abnormality Management, Project Management, Business Process Capacity planning/development, and Lean ROI.
  • Extensive Gemba based Continuous Improvement tools/techniques.
  • Proficient with Computer applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, MS Project, and statistical tools such as Minitab or SPC for Excel).
  • Superior and demonstrated leadership, team building, communication, presentation, interpersonal, and coaching skills and the ability to ensure accountability using Lean Management Principles.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead acquisition integrations.
  • Project management experience with the ability to understand and drive cost savings.
  • Strong influencing and coaching skills.  Proven experience in developing and coaching a team.
  • Ability to be effective in a highly matrixed environment, to effectively communicate with and influence all levels of the organization and drive change.
  • Proven ability to think and act strategically, but also be willing to “roll up sleeves.”
  • Willing to travel up to 75%.
