Beacon currently sells waterproofing products throughout its commercial and residential roofing branches as well as 13 specialty waterproofing locations in the Western U.S. Coastal has 18 locations dedicated to waterproofing serving the Southeast and Midwest. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Manages and leads the daily branch sales counter and warehouse/Distribution Center operations including:
Strategy
- Maintain daily engagement in the oversight and leadership of the branch team to ensure alignment with the Company’s mission to deliver a consistent, quality service to our customers.
- Manage payroll, productivity and staffing in branch against established budget, performance expectations and objectives.
- Drives business results by continuously monitoring the performance, profitability, and branch plans, provides recognition for desired behaviors and achieving results, and adjusts when needed.
- Influences overall business results by building and maintaining cross-functional partnerships with Human Resources, Safety & Asset Protection, Sales, Credit, Purchasing, etc.
- Actively identifies barriers to performance and uses available cross-functional resources to help diagnose issues and remove barriers.
- Works collaboratively with the District Manager/Regional Operations Manager to align all goals and strategies for the region.
- Leverages system reports and business data to support decisions that positively impact key branch metrics.
- Actively looks for new ways to improve branch staffing productivity and overall branch efficiencies.
- Hires, trains, assesses, leads, coaches, motivates, and drives associate engagement.
- Maintains a long-term strategic view of branch talent including recruiting needs, team dynamics, developmental needs, and succession planning.
Leadership

Sales/Customer Service
- Actively lead and oversee sales efforts, ensuring Sales Associates utilize tools provided, ensure accurate and consistent performance of established policies and procedures, while effectively working with our customers to build strong and lasting customer relationships.
- Achieve financial objectives by driving the performance of financial plans and budgets.
- Build and strengthen relationships with customers to ensure exceptional customer service.
- Meet and exceed internal or external customer expectations with friendly service, technical expertise, timely follow-up and thorough written and verbal communication.
Safety
- Promote the company’s safety programs and enforce safety guidelines
- Ensure that all operational policies and procedures in branch are followed accurately and consistently.
- Promote safety through regular team meetings and Distribution Center walk-throughs
- Ensure safe operation of all equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, dock levelers, ladders, safety equipment, mixing equipment, pallet wrapping tools and hand tools (including preventive maintenance).
- Ensure the safe storage of materials, including consideration of weight and stability of the packaging on a pallet
- Identify, eliminate and immediately formalize reporting of all observed hazardous or unsafe conditions, particularly including those involving equipment, facilities and storage procedures.
- Lead by example to ensure a culture of safety permeates throughout the company and safety programs, policies and directives are adhered to consistently.
Facilities
- Works with DC Manager to ensure we maintain a clean work environment
- Coordinate and manage distribution center service operations with Distribution Center Manager, setting clear expectations and goals.
- Ensure regular maintenance and services are being done correctly.
Inventory
- Work with Sales Team to Manage all open orders on a regular basis.
- Develop strong knowledge of demand calculations.
- Ensure operational processes for receiving and picking are being followed.
- Work to establish strong internal transfer efficiencies among partnering branches.
- Manage all counter sales processes involving sales, credit, purchasing and payables.
- Set clear expectations with the DC Manager/Lead for accuracy of receiving, storing and shipping of materials, including physical count and documentation records, such as shipping and receiving records.
- Set clear expectations with DC Manager/Lead for the preparation of the distribution center for, and the participation in, the physical inventories of the distribution center, which inventories are normally done twice a year on a pre-scheduled week-end basis.
- Responsible to utilize the computerized information system, including data input, reading and utilizing such information, especially related to credit, inventory control, and coordination of sales activities.
- Along with the Assistant Branch Manager (when applicable), manage all Inside Sales processes involving sales, credit, purchasing and payables
- Oversee the accuracy of receiving, storing and shipping of materials, including physical count and documentation records, such as shipping and receiving records
- Ensure that all Inventory management processes are followed and completed on time, including Aging Inventory, Cycle Counting, Excess Inventory movements, etc.
Talent Leadership/Team
- Gather and report market information regarding competitors, vendors, and customers in addition to local market trends, events, & economics.
- Participate in the hiring, selection and outplacement process.
- Conducts Strategy Sessions for all team members setting clear goals and expectations, hold a quality career conversation and provide effective feedback and coaching on performance.
- Provides effective feedback while coaching and has a focus on developing team members to strengthen the team.
- Continuously assess talent at all levels within the branch and provide specific ongoing coaching, training and feedback. Work with HR regarding employee performance issues.
- Interview and select top diversified talent and ensure that they are on-boarded into the company successfully, resulting in decreased employee turnover.
- Promote positive employee relations including foster high team morale, upholding operational standards, and execution of the Strategy Session process. This includes helping out at the branch at all levels to ensure teamwork and excellent customer service.
- Lead and facilitate team meetings to ensure effective communication and motivation at all levels of the organization.
- Partner with Credit, Purchasing, Human Resources, Finance, etc. to develop and execute a sound and obtainable business plan.
- Coordinate with Sales & Marketing Management:

- Co-leads\ meetings with District/Sales Manager with Inside & Outside Sales to ensure effective coordination.
