The Responsibilities Include:

  • Analyze product cost and profitability by SKU to determine appropriate pricing and costing strategies
  • Analyze product cost differences by manufacturer and product
  • Analyze vendor incentive programs by product line
  • Develop, implement, and execute product profitability reporting tools that can be used in the field to help them run their businesses
  • Analyze product pricing strategies across the company
  • Provide price and cost analysis to assist in the negotiations with vendors in establishing purchase agreements
  • Review competitors product pricing and profitability to establish benchmarks for Beacon
  • Responsible for financial analysis supporting company-wide strategic and operational initiatives related to the Sourcing/Purchasing function of the business.
  • Partner with the sourcing/purchasing business leader to drive operating performance & act as champion for strategic initiatives within the sourcing/purchasing organization.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly consolidated corporate reporting of actual, forecast and budget information for the sourcing/purchasing function to senior management audience including trend reports, variance analyses and additional business insights.
  • Drive profitable growth by providing analysis of results and identifying & tracking key metrics while advising the leadership team on risks and opportunities, as well as recommending actions.
  • Contribute to improving efficiencies and performance as well as providing quality financial information. Actively participate with sourcing/purchasing management to improve productivity.
  • Develop and improve financial processes & reporting for the sourcing/purchasing function: finance reporting tools, management reporting tools, budgeting and estimating processes, standard product costs, capital investment and analysis.
  • Assist with management reporting and communicate results to managers.
  • Drive consistent usage of financial electronic tools across the business.
  • Develop new reports for process improvements.
  • Analysis of actual cost, preparation of monthly forecast and cost center analysis.
  • Analyze and evaluate highly complex financial data; interpret data for the purpose of determining financial performance, financial trends and/or to project financial probability.
  • Perform and consult on analysis/evaluation. - Supports manager and Director with reporting, analysis, forecast and budgeting information and provides additional financial support as needed.
  • May perform complex and non-routine ad hoc financial analysis including financial modeling.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Minimum five years of cost accounting and financial analysis experience, preferably within the distribution industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related degree. CPA desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and process orientation.   
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong ability to work in changing environment, see through complexity.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership.
  • Strong influencing and coaching skills.   
  • Ability to be effective in a highly matrixed environment, to effectively communicate with and influence all levels of the organization and drive change.
  • Demonstrated self-starter who identifies opportunities, develops solutions, and drives full implementation
  • Solid understanding of and experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access tools.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in working in a demanding, high performance work environment and team oriented culture.
  • Must be able to think and act strategically, but also be willing to “roll up sleeves” within the finance function.
  • Up to 30% travel may be required.
