Senior Manager - Fleet (Remote)

The Senior Fleet Manager is responsible for driving the overall company DOT Vehicle Maintenance program, overseeing company-wide fleet spend auditing, supporting capex and lease deliveries/tracking/specing/purchasing, monitor utilization and work across the company to move fleet assets as needed, and driving Penske/Beacon branch satisfaction level improvements. The Sr Fleet Manager will also provide local branch Fleet support to their geographic area of ownership.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implementing and coordinating proactive programs to decrease driver DOT failures. This includes preventative programs and training as well as reviewing roadside inspection violations and assisting with root cause identification and corrective action deployment.
  • Managing the vehicle inspection process, required documentation, and auditing DVIR’s to maintain DOT compliance.
  • Auditing company fleet repair and maintenance program spend to ensure proper billing for only required/approved work
  • Supporting the Director – Fleet Capex with procuring, tracking, and delivering all fleet assets to ensure timeline delivery and proactive ongoing field communication. Also includes tracking removal of replacement units to drive fleet age and truck/driver ratio goals. Includes adding new lease to Lease Harbors and tracking / planning for replacements
  • Drive fleet utilization improvement and facilitate fleet asset moves as needed to support the business. Develop and maintain KPI’s to track and improve asset utilization and optimization of the fleet.
  • Oversee company program with Beacon satisfaction rating of Penske maintenance. Drive reoccurring meetings between District leadership and oversee deployment results tracking from bi-annual surveys.
  • Oversee timely asset disposition program and reporting
  • Oversee HOS program and partner with District leaders to increase HOS tracking across Beacon
  • Acquisitions – assist divisions with adding and tracking fleet assets as needed
  • Support divisional Fleet Teams with equipment issues and warranty, escalate to vendors for resolution
  • Effectively communicating with other internal departments, warehouse workers, drivers, peers, leaders, vendors, etc.
  • Effectively utilize various data sources to determine future savings opportunities.
  • Partner with the Branches and Operations team to modify equipment specifications and optimal equipment types.
  • Assisting in annual maintenance budget requirements.
  • Other duties as needed.



  • 5+ years of experience with commercial motor vehicle operations.
  • Ability to build trust and confidence with management and supervision
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, web-based applications, and technology
  • Attention to detail and ability to work unsupervised
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Required to be able to travel approximately 10%  
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employee’s- written and verbal.
