Director Market Segment Commercial Remote

Job purpose


The Director Market Segment Commercial is responsible for managing the ongoing alignment between the company’s services and products with the needs, trends, and preferences of the commercial market, market segments and customers. They are responsible for executing the value proposition of Beacon for commercial customers and for driving the organization to deliver, working closely with all internal functions to ultimately grow commercial solutions revenue and profits. Growing the Commercial Solutions business is a strategic initiative and crucial to the company’s overall growth plan. This individual will have in-depth experience in process optimization, IT & digital transformation, and sales enablement (trainings, hiring). This role will report to the SVP of Commercial Solutions.


Duties and responsibilities


  • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for the commercial market and related product/services offerings for internal and external audiences
  • Responsible for overall value proposition, strategic definition for the commercial solutions business, and identification and management of services and products available
  • Build on prior consulting work, gather feedback from commercial customers and team members across the company and proactively identify potential growth opportunities, working with sales team members and customers on pilot tests and solution installations
  • Working with marketing, digital teams and operations teams, map processes and create technical requirements to improve technology tools and integrations for commercial customers and internal teams
  • Conducts continuous market monitoring and impact analysis of needs, trends, competitor moves, and other key influencers, proactively recommends corrective action when appropriate, identifies opportunities for service and technology innovations by utilizing customer and market knowledge
  • Works with sales enablement to develop and implement go-to-market plans for improved commercial sales, develop improved and specialized training curriculum, including supporting presentations, tools, and vendor trainings
  • Collaborate with vendors on distilling product knowledge for training documents and coordinate hands-on trainings
  • Collaborate with engineering, technical and sales teams to establish project tracking and review cadence
  • Collaborate with HR to define skillsets for commercial hires, career paths and sources of talent (e.g. university recruiting, vendors)




  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or other technical field
  • 10+ years’ experience in project management, sales operations and/or product management
  • Experience working in a branch or distributor environment, preferred
  • Experience in process mapping and deployment of supporting IT systems and sales enablement
  • Experience in gathering and interpreting information and/or ability to work with large data sets/analytical skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a client-centered approach
  • Great organizational and time management abilities
  • Advanced collaboration, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Proficient skill with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business acumen, financial concepts, and procedures


Working conditions


  • Moderate travel requirements as needed for business purposes
  • Work assignments may be completed remotely and/or available company offices within respective markets


Physical requirements


  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and/or keyboard
  • Heavy methods of verbal and auditory communication via phone, virtual calls, and/or email
