Communications & CSR Manager (hybrid- Herndon, VA based)

Beacon Building Products, a rapidly growing Fortune 500 company, is seeking an energetic, creative, well-organized communications and corporate social responsibility manager to join the Communications Department.


Our ideal candidate is a creative thinker, gifted writer, and detail-oriented individual with an eye for good visual design. This exciting role will work with all areas of the company to communicate corporate news both externally via press releases and social media as well as internally with a focus on how Beacon’s values are alive throughout the business. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to leverage their communication expertise to make an impact by reaching and engaging employees, managers, and community members in pursuit of Beacon’s mission and goals.


What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Manage employee communications content and programs to and from branch locations across the U.S. and Canada
  • Write, edit and manage approval process for corporate and employee news stories, scripts and presentations in multiple media formats to share with both internal and external audiences
  • Curate written and visual content for corporate and executive social media posts
  • Create communication plans for company programs to drive awareness and adoption
  • Manage employee engagement programs operated in-house and by third parties
  • Drive community outreach at branches throughout the U.S. and Canada via national charitable partnerships
  • Partner with the Communications and HR team to support diversity, equity, and inclusion programs
  • Participate in elevating education and effectiveness of Beacon’s Corporate Social Responsibility Council
  • Assist the VP of Communications & CSR with day-to-day department activities, tactical execution and administration


The Experience You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or other undergraduate major requiring extensive writing and communications skills
  • 3+ years of prior relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to write in a clear and compelling manner, with a strong command of English grammar and editing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from conception to execution
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cohesively with senior management, supervisors, colleagues, and partners
  • Good eye for graphic design to support appealing and effective communication
  • Excels at working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Detail-oriented, with a drive to produce high-quality content, provide outstanding service to field and functional teams, and continually improve results and processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint



What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in the Corporate Communications/CSR department of a publicly traded company
  • Experience producing video, audio and other multimedia content
  • Skills in  Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro) and Sharepoint
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Bilingual Spanish and/or French
