Commercial Marketing Director

Job purpose

 

The Director of Marketing – Commercial role will help Beacon build a robust strategy for the commercial arm of the business. This is a new leadership role, and will have responsibility to lead the overall marketing strategy for Beacon’s low slope roofing business. This individual will play a key role in developing and executing strategies that drive revenue and profit, including: new business growth, higher customer satisfaction, and customer retention.  Additionally, they will help support the commercial business by partnering cross-functionally to develop and accelerate projects; including customer insights, branch engagement, digital growth and private label strategies. The candidate must possess in-depth marketing experience, a passion for developing and implementing cohesive marketing strategies, and a great collaboration skillset. The role will report directly to the Vice President of Marketing, with dotted line responsibility to the Senior Vice President of Commercial Solutions, and will play a key role in helping Beacon achieve our Ambition 2025 goals.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Act as subject matter expert within commercial markets and the Partner Lead with advertising commercial accounts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with SVP of Commercial Solutions and with critical field sales and operational leaders.
  • Analyze and develop in-depth understanding of the value chain and needs of commercial customers and influencers. Understand commercial ordering, delivery and servicing (cradle-to-grave) and identify process steps to improve, tools to develop and partnerships to scale and accelerate the commercial business.
  • Create sales building marketing plans that drive wallet share gains; use actionable data metrics and work with sales teams to drive follow through and results.
  • Gather feedback from commercial customers and team members across the company and proactively identify potential growth opportunities.
  • Execute commercial marketing plans with cross functional team providing opportunities within our revenue stream to drive success for the organization.
  • Communicate, proactively seek, and analyze new opportunities and innovations with designated partners.
  • Provide marketing insight and expertise in commercial products on regular business reviews and revenue analysis.
  • Work with eCommerce team to drive stronger UX within the PRO+ system; evaluate and develop strategic digital integrations.
  • Formulate, direct, or coordinate marketing activities or policies to promote products or services, working with advertising or promotion managers (internal and external). This includes development of specific Commercial roofing focused assets, including sales tools, conferences, trainings, events, social media, and email marketing.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, or another related field
  • Experience working in a branch environment, distributor, preferred
  • At least 5 years' experience in project management, or consulting role
  • Extensive experience in gathering and interpreting commercial information and/or ability to work with large data sets/analytical skills
  • Solid knowledge of marketing engagement platforms and channels
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a client-centered approach; empathy and listening skills
  • Great organizational and time management abilities
  • Advanced collaboration, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Proficient skill with Personal Computer Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business acumen, financial concepts, and procedures

 

Working conditions

 

  • Moderate travel requirements as needed for business purposes
  • Work assignments may be completed remotely and/or available company offices/branches within respective markets

 

Physical requirements

 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and/or keyboard
  • Heavy methods of verbal and auditory communication via phone, virtual calls, and/or email
