Job purpose
This position is a leadership role to support and operationalize the development and implementation of multi-year strategic goal that brings maximum value for Beacon, within the Supply Chain organization (Inventory/Procurement focus). The role must plan and complete inventory profile & spend analyses, market and forward-looking forecasting analysis, purchase negotiations, implementation of optimization techniques, and supplier performance/supplier relationship management for the scope for which they are responsible. This position will report to the VP – Divisional Supply Chain.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to a team of direct reports supporting the assigned branches within the region of responsibility.
- Establish strategy and tactics around delivering the best experience for our customers as it relates to stocked & replenished products – at the right time, place, quantity, and cost.
- Drive accountability with Purchase Order Management process and associated payables reconciliation needed.
- Execute all responsibilities associated with the day-to-day cycle count management process and annual physical inventory requirements.
- Develop budgets and institute inventory targets to drive execution on key strategic objectives; manage working capital targets for assigned responsibility
- Evaluate available supply chain and network optimization techniques to improve customer service levels for assigned scope
- Set process and controls to review, address and control slow moving/unhealthy inventory using available tools and analytics.
- Participate in and lead cross-functional teams to achieve desired results around product categories associated with key product lines.
- Establish strong business partnership with regional leadership (Sales, Finance, Operations and Category Management) to effectively deliver against Sales and Inventory objectives.
- Coach, train, and mentor the team to identify talent and improve productivity for the Supply Chain organization; build required bench strength and outline succession path.
- Implement a measurement process, conduct periodic reviews, and institute continuous improvement programs as required
- Develop demand forecasts based on demand patterns and business trends; gather and analyze upcoming market dynamics to make proactive decisions.
- Negotiate with existing and new suppliers to leverage spend, and develop new “preferred” supplier relations
- Partner closely with Category Management team and Product Managers to stay aligned on category & inventory strategy
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales teams to operationalize private label offerings to the Beacon brand – where available
- Lead change management process for the team of buyers - to deliver exceptional field execution effectiveness and value to internal/external customers.
- Ensure effective inventory management techniques are in place to meet service level expectations for the market being served.
- Ensure the effective internal tracking and measurements necessary to effectively support the financial targets at the Branch, District, Region, and Division level
- Develop effective direct and indirect relationships to actively engage stakeholders in each region/division organization
Qualifications
- 6 years of experience with a minimum of 3 years in Procurement, Strategy, Finance, Engineering, Consulting, Sales
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Finance, or other technical discipline
- Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive company programs and processes
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification, preferred
- Experience with category management, strategic sourcing, category planning, and supplier relationship management and negotiations.
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
- Ability to successfully operate in a highly matrixed environment, to effectively communicate with and influence all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated successful experience working in a demanding, high performance work environment and team-oriented culture
- Proficient skill with Personal Computer Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of business acumen, financial concepts, and procedures
Working conditions
- Minimal travel requirements as needed for business purposes
- candidate must be currently based out of or willing to relocate to Florida
- Work assignments may be completed remotely and/or available company offices within respective markets
