RETAIL SALES REP (ENTRY LVL OUTSIDE SALES)

I.     Primary Function

To acquire new and add-on business to maintain and grow our current retail sales customer base.

II.    Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities with potential customers through cold calling, provided leads, networking and referrals
  • Works to establish add-on business with existing customer base
  • Works to build long term relationships with customer base
  • New store set-up
  • Maintains an organized and easily accessible filling system (prospective business, add-on business activity, forecasting, quota details, etc.)
  • Achieves monthly and yearly quota requirements
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge base of entire product line. 
  • Attends industry and product related training programs, conferences, seminars and educational forums
  • Works to build long term relationships with customer base
  • Quotes accurate prices in a timely manner to customers
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Receive and process requests directly from customers (via telephone, fax and mail) for price quotations, product availability, customer orders, material returns, billing corrections, product information, order changes, and cancellations
  • Plan prospecting objectives
  • Quickly and smoothly resolve customer complaints and problems
  • Engage in specialty purchasing (when applicable)
  • Adheres to pricing guidelines established by Regional Manager
  • Maintains strong relationships with customers during and after purchases to facilitate return business
  • Sustains a working technical knowledge of all available Allied products

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Professional demeanor both on the phone and in person
  • PC knowledge (i.e. Windows 95, Word, E-mail)
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Time management skills
  • Verbal/written communication skills

IV.   Experience

  • Sales experience (preferably in the building products industry)
  • Experience in a team-based environment
  • Experience in handling multiple projects/tasks at once
  • Experience in a position that deals directly with customers (front-line)
  • Valid Driver’s License is mandatory
