HR GENERALIST

I.       Primary Function

The Human Resources Generalist originates and supports Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, ongoing development and assists the recruiting team in the recruitment of a superior workforce

II.      Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management on employee relations issues including but not limited to Performance Improvement administration, job description development, management coaching, and HR/Payroll related transactions.
  • Support designated geographic regions on all HR related matters while exercising and demonstrating sound judgment and professionalism.
  • Participate in the performance and talent management process ensuring alignment with the company’s overall talent management objectives.
  • Champion HR initiatives for assigned region(s).
  • Advise on HR laws and internal policies for compliance, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Understand and adapt to constantly changing state and federal employment laws.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and HR support to all employees to achieve compliance with all HR policies and procedures.
  • Understand business objectives in the assigned region and align with HR.
  • Investigate sensitive complaints/allegations and work with managers to address areas of concern and recommend a course of action.
  • Actively protect confidential information.
  • Build trust among employees, management, and colleagues.
  • Participate in the gathering and analysis of data to generate HR metrics that can be used to identify trends and develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Analyze situations that may pose a risk to the company and recommend resolutions that are compliant with state and federal law as well as internal policies.
  • Understands and enforces company safety and DOT rules to create and maintain a safe work environment
  • Approximately 20% travel or as needed
  • Proactively and creatively come up with ideas on HR best practices to share with the team
  • Make recommendations for process improvement as needed
  • Participate in other HR related projects as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Attention to detail, highly motivated, initiative/self-starter with a strong sense of urgency and work ethic
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and HRIS proficient
  • Customer relations skills; Ability to prioritize and multitask; Ability to build relationships with employees

IV.          Experience

  • BS Degree in HR or related field preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in Human Resources experience preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in employee relations and/or HR Generalist role
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations
