Job purpose


The Director of Commercial National Accounts role is to lead the Commercial National Account Managers that are responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with account customers internal and external to the company. This position requires a keen ability to lead others, analysis of performance metrics, aid in increasing sales and profitability, and facilitating communication between the National Account Managers and each of their Regional Leaders, Branch Managers, and Sales Members.


Duties and responsibilities


  • Support, Train, and Develop the Commercial National Account Managers leading and assisting them to goal achievement
  • Develop, consistently communicate, and provide analytics to assist the National Account Managers and field in setting a strategic plan to profitably grow each Commercial Roofing National Account customer
  • Establish a platform for essential competencies surrounding commercial roofing products and systems to develop a talent pool for future company needs
  • Adapt in multiple technology platforms that enable the creation and development of relationships, digitally
  • Assist field leaders in identification of talent to facilitate the need for future commercial expertise
  • Meet with market leaders and loyal customers on a consistent basis to accurately assess the effectiveness of the company’s strategic deployment plan
  • Be an influential leader to all field personnel involved with growing the commercial roofing business through exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Assist National Account Managers and field leaders by providing detailed reports that highlight wins and opportunities  
  • Maintain a network of contacts within and outside of the company



  • Bachelor’s degree in sales operations, marketing, or another related field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ sales experience in related field
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Aptitude for Talent Acquisition and Leadership of others
  • Ability to manage large/dynamic accounts
  • Experience utilizing business intelligence systems to manage portfolio (Salesforce and Tableau), preferred
  • Proficient skill with Personal Computer Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of exterior building products acumen, concepts, and procedures


Working conditions


  • Extensive travel requirements as needed for business purposes
  • Work assignments may be completed remotely and/or available company offices/branches within respective markets


Physical requirements


  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and/or keyboard
  • Heavy methods of verbal and auditory communication via phone, virtual calls, and/or email
