The District Safety Coordinator is responsible for the efficient implementation of Corporate EH&S initiatives. Assists with training and auditing the warehouse team including but not limited to CDL drivers, delivery helpers, and warehouse workers. This position will report directly to the District Manager with a dotted line to the Safety Lead.
Duties and responsibilities
- Facilitates the implementation of Corporate EH&S initiatives within assigned region.
- Conducts job site inspections of assigned region to assess for knowledge and/or training gaps.
- Works closely with management to recognize gaps in the safety program and assist with developing corrective action items.
- Assists with pre-shift inspections of fleet. Works with management to ensure any deficiencies noted during inspection are abated and preventative maintenance schedule is followed.
- Conducts regular branch safety inspections and develops action items as needed to address deficiencies. Works with management to assist in the closure of action items.
- Assists with new hire onboarding as needed.
- Serves as a coach and safety mentor to employees in assigned region.
- Assists Safety Lead with root cause analysis as needed.
- Conducts weekly Branch Safety Coordinator cadence call.
- Provides regular feedback to management about safety observations and recommends changes for improvement.
- Assists management where needed for safety program continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Proficient skill with Personal Computer Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Professional written and verbal communication skills: Comfortable speaking in front of a group, delivering training, and coaching team members. Able to speak to all levels of management.
- General knowledge of warehouse and delivery operations
- General knowledge of Fleet and OSHA regulations
- 2+ years’ experience in an operations role, preferably with safety responsibilities
- Organized and detail oriented.
Working conditions
- Minimal/Moderate travel requirements as needed for business purposes.
- Working space will be in an outside environment with possible exposure to the elements.
Physical requirements
- Climbing, kneeling, squatting, reaching, bending, exposure to the elements, and other physical rigors as required
- Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 75lbs.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and/or keyboard.
- Heavy methods of verbal and auditory communication via phone, virtual calls, and/or email
